KLEINMOND WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
OVERVIEW
Kleinmond Wildlife Sanctuary (KWS) is a privately-owned, imminently
commercial, wildlife sanctuary situated in Kleinmond, Western Cape. This
picturesque property is located on route 44, adjacent to the Whalebay coastline.
This stunning 450 hectare property is a meeting place of mountains, fynbos,
freshwater and sea. This magnificent landscape is teeming with endemic wildlife
species – including bontebok, eland, plains zebra, kudu, reedbuck and soon, two
African Elephant bulls, adding yet another careful brushstroke to the already
pretty picture. This project was started 8 years ago by Craig Saunders who had a
vision of bringing a proudly South African wildlife product to the area allowing
people to get lost in a time when elephants roamed these same plains.
The Sanctuary is not yet open to the public but we look forward to welcoming
our elephants, and our community, to KWS.
